Pls. for heaven sake relax...wats wrong with u all.....from past 1 week i m reading this kinds of thread that WE DIDNT GET OUR RECEIPTS....why are u indulging ur selves in supersticious thoughts....jst relax, wait and see....i myself have filled my I-485 in July....and have spoken to my lawyer abt
refilling to which he said NO right away and tell u wat HE WAS FIRM with it....he said to be little patient.....dont jst think NEGATIVE.....THINK POSITIVE

So I have sent them 2 applications
one for my daughter (add OCI to new passport) and one for my son (get new PIO)
All have same documents and so have sent proof of address for both the applications.
My son's got flagged for missing proof of address and so sent them the DL copy (mine, do not have wife's will try sending them the AP as you folks have mentioned, thanks !)
Intrestingly my daughter's got flagged for missing photo copies and have been charged $20 for 10 pages :mad: which by the way I am sure I had sent to them...
and now they are saying I have not sent the old passport that has the U visa.
Now this is a new requirement and was not there previously , before they were asking only for copy of old visa. I have a print out of the requirements from the day I filed.
Apparently, the indian consualte keeps chaing requirements every day is what I was told over the phone.
and reaching them seems to be a very painful wait :( 30 minutes to 1 hour at the least
So far I must say I am not impressed with thier service...but anyways why will they care

My lawyer asked me to use A# on OPT card as the A# on my 485 application. USCIS does not normally assign A# when 140 is approved. There are only rare scenarios when it does that. Please use the A# on your opt card so that USCIS can easily find your records from the student days.
I was a student on f1 and had applied and used my OPT period. The OPT card has A#. I am applying I-485 with I-140 pending and have I-140 reciept
Should I use the OPT A# everywhere on the application?

What was the cause for H1B rejection??
My H-1 B was not rejected, just application got returned back to the lawyer because some form was missing in it. They had refiled it back.
I donot know any other details, as lawyer did not share it with me..

And that is the position of everyone in this country except 20 insider deal senators.
You offer amendments after you take position on the bill - for or against. Everyone does it. There are people who would oppose the bill both before entering the amendments and after their own amendments are passed.
In the current position, the bill is unacceptable to us and it would be foolish to say "Thanks for screwing us with 90K, we accept it and support your screwing us".
Have some dignity man...

If you are looking for career change PT MBA is not a good option,you can do PT MBA if you are typically further along in career, often on track for advancement to senior management and you need to balance heavy course load in addition to work and family. I heard this from a Chinese friend once and believe its true to its extent. I think most of us, including me, come to this forum and either read the stuff about immigration or take out our frustration one way or another and the anger and frustration dies down there. I am sure IV core team is working day and night for the cause but they are limited with options. I believe the best way to create some gain is to do a collective non-violent rally throughout the nation. The way I see it if you dont make noise nothing gets done in this world. I have been here for almost 9+ years surviving f1,h1b and with very vague future ahead. Satyagraha was started by Gandhiji, and was followed by leaders throughout the world under Non-violence movements. As matter of fact even Obama advised it in the Cairo speech.
I understand that the cause is not as dire as in the other movements but we are here fighting for our freedom. This nation is built upon liberty and yet we are under agreed slavery for employers, which is somehow supported by the government. My point is if we really want to make a difference then we need to be collectively heard. What the worst could happen?

Well the lawyer representing the new company believes that without a copy of 140
1. that, they cannot do a H1B transfer.
2. that, I cannot do EAD extension when it expires in October 2008.
Why r u doing an h1 transfer ??? why can't u invoke AC21.....??

will appreciate a reply ..I had changed my wifes last name to our married last name (in SSN). her EAD and 485 is in her maiden last name.
will this create an issue when we renew her EAD ? I wanted to renew with our married last name.

Ask your lawyer to inform USCIS about the name change.They will send all supporting documents like marraige certificate, drivers license etc. If you want to change it after getting the green card, you will have to file form I-90 and pay $300 fee.

What should I do? Try to enter the U.S. with the card? What to say to POE officials? WIll I be questioned?
